100 Years Celebration
100 YEARS AND COUNTING! What a beautiful day we had as the Nazarene Church around the world celebrated 100 years as a Church. The Church was to dress in their Native dress. Those pictured are a part of the Praise Team at Living Waters Church of the Nazarene. It is the only fully English speaking Nazarene Church in Manzini. They sang choruses and some songs in their native tongue but when we as a group stood and sang 'Holiness unto the Lord' WOW! It was just another reminder that wherever you are God is there. The Pastor recognized many in the Church that were giving of their time for Missions. We were among those along with our friends Bob & Shirley Aldrich, Val Young, a former Doctor that was there visiting from the US, and a former Ministers wife (whose husband was a former Pastor of the Church.) Following a 3 hour service we continued the fellowship together with a traditional Swazi meal. It was all set up and the plates had been dished up. We just picked up a plate of food that looked good to us and set down to enjoy the bounty. This was all set out, served, and cleaned up but the younger ladies of the Church.
The young man in the blue shirt is the son of Rev. Shongwe, Central Nazarene DS. We wish that you could have heard them sing and dance in the Spirit of the Lord.

So good to hear of your celebration. I was aware that a celebration was taking place somewhere in the world at all times! Pastor David give a powerful message on "What in the world is a Nazarene+" It was a great reminder to long-time members and informative to those new to our church. We closed with communion followed by "Holiness Unto the Lord"--I would love to have peeked in on your service. Love and blessings. MGD
Hey, what fun you had. I spent the celebration service in my favorite place of service, the kitchen. I made some new friends. The big challenge this time was the punch that Gilbert made was frozen solid and in a insulated cooler. Got that thawed. It was so funny. I knew then it was going to be ok. We had a great time. I find that things run smoother if there is someone in the kitchen the whole time. I am married to Dale of careful planning, so I was there in the kitchen when the covered dish, wrapped in newspaper was getting ready to burn, because of the pilot light on the stove.
We thought of you often.
Love,
Jayne
It is the best feeling when you are celebrating with new friends and God's presence is there. Hallelujah for 100 years!
Will and Karis,
I have enjoyed reading your blog. It makes me homesick for Swaziland. We were always fond of the Jacaranda trees. Indeed, they are beautiful.
We were back to Swaziland in 2000, but I know things have continued to change. It would be nice to be able to return with one of the teams, but Paul is not able, so I would have to go without him. Maybe I will venture out and do that sometime.
Thanks for all you are doing. The Swazi people are easy to love.
